About Navreet

I believe that one person can make a difference.

A kind word, or smile can change so much if shared at the right moment.
As a practicing doctor for the last two decades,  I have had the privilege to share joyful moments with my patients, and be witness to grief,  pain and sadness.  These emotions are part of our shared,  universal experience.
I am inspired by the resilience of the human spirit in the face of heartbreak and loss.  We look to each other for hope and find it everywhere in so many forms.

I am a self taught Artist, with Sikh-Punjabi roots. The Sikh philosophy of Chardi Kala, roughly translated to Eternal Optimism, inspires much of my art, as does the Concept of Seva, a bedrock of Sikhi meaning 'selfless service to others without expectation of reward'

The money we have raised through Poppy Jasper Arts has benefited Civil Rights organizations, Educators, and Non-Profits representing the underprivileged
I have donated paintings for auction and held Art shows to fundraise as well.

Poppy Jasper Arts was born in 2016 at a time I was feeling disillusioned and blossomed from a need to do something tangible for my community.
My husband created Poppy Jasper Arts for me. He and my two children chose the name from the orbicular Jasper with red, orange, and yellow dots of "poppy flowers" unique to Morgan Hill, California,  our hometown. Jasper is a variety of quartz that contains a fair amount of foreign material. It is this foreign material which determines the appearance of the stone and makes each piece of Jasper unique.
Much like our global community, I know our beauty and strength lies in our diversity.
In many cultures Jasper is considered to have magical properties, including renewing energy and encouraging a deep connection with Earth. It is said to inspire creative action and drive away negative energy.

I paint to remind myself of the Kindness, Light and Love that exists all around us if we just look for it.

Thank you for visiting!
